WE BELIEVE THAT ALL ANIMALS DESERVE OUR COMPASSION
And this is who we are Yangchen Lhamo and Nadine Koch. We are animal lovers, we both live in Thimphu and we got together to do something about the situation of the many homeless dogs in Bhutan.
We are well aware, that stray dogs can cause problems in communities: They can pose a threat to people by spreading rabies and other diseases. They can cause damage to livestock and wildlife. And they can behave aggressively towards people.
But there is also a way to live peacefully with these furry members of our society: Start to treat the dogs nicely. Vaccinate the dogs and perform the sterilisations. If a dog trusts humans, the sterilisation is not so difficult and can be done without harming and traumatizing the dog. By sterilising as many dogs as possible, the stray dog population can be controlled.
In the long term the results are happier and healthier dogs and more peaceful nights for us humans. But to achieve this, we need to get together. This mission cannot be fulfilled by just a few people or by the Government. Everyone should feel responsible.
Please help us in our mission by donating a home and warm old blankets for the homeless ones.
Thank you so much for your support.
